Cathryn’s elementary teaching career has spanned 30 years. She is a Primary Specialist and has an extensive background in working with students in the regular classroom, children with special needs, and pupils in English as a Second Language programs. An enthusiastic storyteller, Cathryn has always been passionate about sharing her love of literature with children.

In 2004 Cathryn was in a car accident and sustained injuries to her neck and back. As a result she has learned and applied a myriad of coping strategies to deal with the physical, emotional and psychological implications of living everyday with a chronic pain disability.

It took almost two years to write and revise the text for the book, working no more than 30 minutes a day, a few times per week. No longer able to teach, Cathryn found a way to reconnect with children through GrrrOUCH! Pain is like a grouchy bear. Due to her health condition she is not able to book school or library visits.  She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and

“Cat” as she is affectionately called by her family and friends, resides in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. She is a member of the Canadian Pain Society,
the Canadian Pain Coalition, and Action Ontario.
